Has Your House Gained Weight?

Give your house a tummy tuck.

Has your house put on weight? Maybe both you and your house have some extra weight you wish to shed. Would it be odd to think that decluttering your home, could lead to weight loss in yourself? I don’t think so.

No, this isn’t about a diet, or anything to do with food really. It’s an observation that sometimes we tend to hold onto things if we feel heavy, our environment reflecting and often stimulating the emotions that we are experiencing.

I encourage anyone to begin thinking about their house as a person. If you were to wake up in the morning and roll over, who would you be greeted by? You’re filling up your morning cup of coffee and your house is right next to you, what would she/ he say to you?

Diving Deeper

Would you be best friends with your home?

If the answer is no, it’s likely you may want to make changes, but don’t know exactly where to start. I would encourage anyone to begin with understanding the why behind your current state, why your house feels like this and really begin to observe how you interact with your home.

Many books would just tell you to start decluttering and removing items, but that is the same as telling people to pay off their credit cards without understanding their spending habits/problems. This doesn’t help in the long run!!

I recently was inspired to write this article from the book, Happy starts at home. This author stimulated my desire to align how I design my home with the life I desire to manifest. For example, Maybe you want to meet someone and get married. This could mean opening up the other half of your closet, where they would be able to hang their clothes. Essentially, you begin making space for them in your life, starting with your home.

Circling back to weight, if we desire to be healthier, that comes with the responsibility of living as a healthy person does. This could mean replacing the pantry with a garden, replacing your couch with an elitipcal or bike. I think you can figure out what makes the most sense for you, but opening up your home and decluttering may be the first step to making space for what you need to live your healthier lifestyle.

Reflection

I hope you found this helpful and would encourage you to take a step back when looking at your home. If you are interested in diving more into the WHY behind your current space and helping guide you to a healthier, happier one, I would recommend renting the book- Happy starts at home– at your local library or checking it out on amazon here.

Wishing you a good day and a happy life!
